Today was a day that everything felt good. No matter what you did, everything felt right. Now, don't get the wrong idea. For Ritsu, it was as any other day would be, because every day felt right for her, especially when it seemed like the sun was smiling at you, like it did today. But today was slightly different. Today she would be going on a school trip.
Little Ritsu wasn't really excited about the place they would be going. Still, she couldn't help but feeling a little hyper about their trip. Not only because she was Ritsu, but also because she would be spending her entire day with Akiyama Mio, the most quiet person in the universe. But also her bestest friend in it.
Unlike Ritsu, Mio was happy about the choice of place. They would be going to a museum about the history of their own country. To any other kid it would sound extremely boring, but not to Mio. She was eager about learning new things, including the history of her beloved country; Japan. Ofcourse she wouldn't let anybody know. Anybody except her best friend.
Ritsu knew perfectly well that Mio enjoyed figuring out new types of things, but that didn't mean she couldn't make use of this in her advantage one day. Today wasn't that day, but somewhere, deep down there, she knew she could use this someday.
''Alright everyone, we're making our leave! Make sure you stay in your seat this entire time, unless you need to make use of the toilet. Please fasten your seatbelts, we'll arrive in 45 minutes at our destination!''
Mio did as was told. Her friend next to her didn't. She was hopping up and down in her chair, not paying attention to anything that was being said by her teacher.
''Ricchan, if you don't fasten your seatbelt, you'll get in trouble,'' the raven haired girl said, hoping her friend would listen to her.
''I can't be punished for things that aren't seen!'' Ritsu replied. It looked like she wasn't going to listen soon.
''I can see it,'' Mio replied, giving it another try.
She received a chuckle. ''What, you're saying you're going to punish me? Go ahead, I'd like to see you try.''
''N-no, but.. Just... Just do it..''
Ritsu stared at her best friend with her amber eyes, but Mio tried her best to evade eye contact. She eventually turned to look out the window, which caused Ritsu to finally give in. ''Fine,'' she muttered.
The bustrip was way too long for a certain energetic girl. Luckily for her, Mio was in a talkative mood, or it would've taken even longer. Ritsu was relieved when they had finally arrived.
Their teacher took her time to explain the rules of the museum when they got outside the bus. After that, they lunched in the outside air, which pleased both Ritsu and Mio. They were allowed to release their energy before they would enter the building and that was relevant for the hyperactive ones.
When they were about to enter the huge building, Mio noticed a little stray cat a few steps away from the entrance. Since it was taking so long to get to enter the building, she decided it wouldn't hurt to pet the poor thing.
Mio seperated herself from the group, which didn't notice they were missing a girl. Once she got close to the cat, however, it got scared and ran away. Mio, who was determined to pet it anyway, ran after it without a second thought.
Only when she looked up after running through a few streets, she noticed that she didn't recognize it. She had left her safehouse without noticing it. With panic starting to dwell within her, she tried to find her way back to the museum. The only problem was that she didn't know which way she came from, since she hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings.
Tears started to form and make their way down her cheeks. She was lost. Lost in a city she didn't know. Mio let herself drop to the ground, hiding her face between her legs, which now had been curled up and being hold by her arms. How could she be so stupid? What was she supposed to do now? Did they already find out she was gone? What if they just forget about her and leave her here by herself?
More tears left her eyes, while a sob would ocassionally leave her throat. She desperately wanted to hear the comforting voice of her mother right now. Unfortunately for her, her mother wasn't here.
''Mio-chan?'' Someone suddenly said with a concerned tone in her voice. ''You okay? Why're you crying?''
That voice. She recognized it.. That one voice she would normally find so irritating, because it easily distracted her from what she was doing, but which she also loved for giving her pleasure and being there for her. Like now.
Mio slowly looked up from her knees, now seeing the person she just imagined with that voice. ''Ricchan..''
''What were you doing, you idiot? Running away is normally something I would do.'' Ritsu gave Mio her trademark grin when she had finished her lines.
Mio kept silent for a while. Instead of saying anything, she just stared into those amber eyes which were telling her it was gonna be okay from here on and that she didn't need to worry.
Mio suddenly jumped up from her seat and yelped when she felt something poke her side. When she threw a glance at the suspect, she received the same grin.
''You were thinking of something, weren't you?'' The girl asked in a playful manner. ''Who were you thinking of?''
''You,'' Mio responded.
Ritsu's face immediately flushed a deep shade of red. ''Eh?!''
''I was remembering something, you idiot.''
''Oh. Like?'' Ritsu asked again with the same grin, now closing in a little.
Mio didn't know what to do from this point on. If she were to tell Ritsu the truth, she was certain the drummer would tease her with it. But if she were to tell a lie, Ritsu would be, most likely, onto that immediately, considering Mio was a terrible liar. And she would hurt Ritsu's feelings if she did.
''Our trip to a museum in grade school,'' she finally said, taking the shot. She was going to regret it later, but it was better than telling her best friend a lie.
''The one where you ran after a kitty like an idiot?'' Ritsu snickered, much to Mio's displease.
''Mou, forget it,'' the raven haired girl said, turning her attention back to the front of the class.
''No wait, I'm sorry! It's just that.. It was kinda funny I had to chase you, because it would normally be the other way around..''
''You ran after me..?'' Mio asked, surprised.
''Well, yeah. I saw you running away from the line and somehow I decided to follow you from the start. Didn't want to leave you on your own, y'know,'' Ritsu explained with a smile.
''Still, that face you made when you realized you were lost! Hilarious!''
''Mou, baka Ritsu!'' Mio almost screamed, which was followed by the sound of a loud thud.
